AMC Networks Ad Sales Chief Scott Collins Exiting Company – Adweek

Another ad sales chief is on the way out after finishing upfront negotiations this summer.

Scott Collins, who has been president of advertising sales at AMC Networks since 2017, will be leaving the company at the end of the month. He joined AMC Networks in 2008.

The company said Collins, who just wrapped “another successful upfront,” his 12th at the company, is leaving “to pursue new opportunities.” There is no word on a replacement.

Collins is the second ad sales chief in the last month to exit after finishing upfront sales, following WarnerMedia’s Donna Speciale, who departed last month.

AMC Networks said ad sales revenue has tripled under Collins and his team. Among his initiatives, he brought 6-second ads to The Walking Dead and led the creation of the company’s data-driven sales offering, guaranteeing advanced audiences across linear and digital platforms.

“Scott has played a critical role in driving ad sales over more than a decade at AMC Networks, including running our ad sales operation over the last three years,” said AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan in a statement. “The growth of our company and ability to entertain and delight fans with original programming across five networks has been made possible in large part by our expanding relationships with leading advertisers, and Scott has been at the center of those relationships and conversations for more than a decade. We wish him all the best as he pursues his next adventure.”

In his own statement, Collins said, “It has been a privilege and honor to run an industry-leading ad sales organization across five vibrant and distinctive networks and brands. I am proud of the accomplishments of our ad sales team and our colleagues from across the company to drive this business forward on the strength of our compelling content and the ability to use that content to deliver value for advertisers. As Don Draper said so eloquently, ‘Success comes from standing out, not fitting in.’ For more than a decade, AMC Networks has stood out in an expanding sea of original content, players and platforms, and am proud to have been a part of it.”

Collins arrived at the company in 2008, first as svp of ad sales for WE tv. He previously worked as vp of national ad sales for NBCU Cable Entertainment and as an account executive at A+E Networks.
