Facebook’s Chief Revenue Officer Named Ad Council Board Chair – Adweek

The Ad Council has announced that Facebook’s chief revenue officer David Fischer is the nonprofit’s latest board of directors’ chair.

He takes the reins from Linda Boff, GE’s chief marketing officer.

Fischer joined the Ad Council’s board of directors in 2011 and became a member of its executive committee in 2012. Prior to his new role, he served as vice chair.

“I’m deeply committed to the Ad Council’s mission to create ongoing dialogue and action around key issues to drive societal change,” said Fischer in a statement. “It’s an honor to lead this incredible organization and have the opportunity to help advance progress on these important topics.”

According to the nonprofit, Fischer will work in collaboration with the executive committee, the governing body of the Ad Council’s board and the organization’s leadership to further its mission of using “the power of communications to address more than 30 critical social issues.”

He will also manage business affairs and chair the Ad Council’s 2019 Annual Public Service Award Dinner, its largest annual fundraising event, which takes place in December of this year.

“David’s commitment to purpose-driven marketing has been invaluable to the Ad Council and our social good campaigns,” said Lisa Sherman, president and CEO of the Ad Council, in a statement. “With David’s leadership, we will continue to use the most innovative tools and technologies to drive measurable impact on the most important issues facing our country.”

The Ad Council said Facebook has “become an instrumental force” in extending the reach and impact of its campaigns through things like donated media and creative production.

Founded in 1942, the Ad Council’s public service advertising spreads awareness of issues including gun safety, suicide prevention, shelter pet adoption and texting while driving.
