The Masked Singer Will Return Sept. 25 as Fox Sets Fall Premiere Dates – Adweek

Last season’s biggest freshman hit, The Masked Singer, will return for Season 2 on Wednesday, Sept. 25, said Fox, as the network set its fall premiere dates for the 2019-20 season.

The Masked Singer, which was last season’s No. 5 show in the adults 18-49 demo, will have a two-hour premiere before settling into its usual hour-long episodes the following week. In May, Fox said Season 3 of the series will debut after Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, Feb. 2

The other big addition to Fox’s fall schedule, WWE’s SmackDown Live, will debut on Friday, Oct. 4 and run 52 weeks per year.

Similar to both NBC and CBS, most of Fox’s fall schedule will roll out the week of Sept. 23, the first week of the 2019-20 season.

On Monday, Sept. 23, 9-1-1 returns for Season 3, followed by new drama Prodigal Son.

Medical drama The Resident has its premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 24, leading into the final season premiere of Empire, which will conclude after Season 6.

Because of The Masked Singer’s two-hour premiere, new drama Almost Family (previously titled Not Just Me), which airs after the show on Wednesdays, won’t air until Oct. 2.

Thursday Night Football, which joined the Fox lineup last fall, returns on Sept. 26, as the Green Bay Packers host the Philadelphia Eagles.

WWE’s SmackDown Live will take over Fox’s Friday schedule, year-round, beginning on Oct 4.

And the network’s Animation Domination block debuts on Sunday, Sept. 29: The Simpsons, new comedy Bless the Harts, Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy.

This will be the first full TV season for Fox following parent company Fox Corp. being spun off on March 19, one day before Disney closed its $71 billion deal to buy most of 21st Century Fox’s assets.

With Fox’s announcement today, ABC is the only broadcaster that hasn’t yet set its fall premieres. CBS was first out of the gate earlier this month, followed by NBC and The CW.

Here is the premiere schedule for Fox’s fall shows (new programs are in all caps):

8-9 p.m. — 9-1-1 (Sept. 23)
