These McCann Creatives Want People to Share Memories They Associate With New York Street Corners – Adweek

The streets of New York City are home to countless breakups, makeups, screaming fits, drunken antics and more.

Now, three creatives at McCann’s midtown Manhattan headquarters is on a mission to document these happenings via a project that asks people to share the memories—good, bad and ugly—that they associate with particular city street corners.

The trio is asking New Yorkers and tourists alike to submit one memory (whether it was a great slice of pizza or a personal revelation) and the corresponding street corner here. The creatives are taking it upon themselves to write these memories down on yellow stickers and post them where they belong. All memories, of course, are then posted on a dedicated “On This Corner NYC” Instagram account as well.

Predictably, many of the posts recount engagements, first kisses and the like, but some are surprisingly honest and funny—like the person who “showed up to hook up,” but left after spotting a date’s gnarly fingernails.

Kyle Harrison and his creative partner Ezequiel Consoli, who serve as copywriter and art director at McCann New York, respectively, first dreamed up the project. Before launching, they also brought fellow McCann creative Hailey Lawrence on board.

“The idea started one day in late 2018 when Ezequiel and I walked past Bleecker and Lafayette streets in NYC and realized that we both associate that corner with a certain memory,” said Harrison. “We used that insight and developed the idea of finding stories from New Yorkers and sharing them on corners throughout the city.”

Consoli and Harrison are no strangers to creative side projects outside of work.

Last year, they created “Your Voting Date,” an Instagram-driven effort that asked voters to find a date for the election on Nov. 6 so they could hit the polls together.

The pair, who also have their own website, amusingly titled The Old Man & The Gay, collaborated with other creatives two years ago on an effort that involved creating fake Pride-themed MTA signs and hanging them around New York City’s subway system.

#PrideTrain is now an annual event that coincides with Pride Month every June.

“We love being on the ground and using our creativity to spread positivity around our city,” Harrison said.
