Workplace From Facebook Updates Desktop Experience, Including Dark Mode – Adweek

Enterprise solution Workplace From Facebook detailed improvements to its desktop experience, as well as its rebuilt Workplace Chat iOS application and the addition of dark mode to both. For the web, in addition to dark mode, a new full-width mode enables desktop users to minimize white space while working on larger monitors. Workplace From Facebook The post-creation experience was updated, with the “Add to Your Post” section collapsed and easier access to text-formatting options. Workplace From Facebook Speed was boosted, as well, via “cutting-edge infrastructure components.” As part of this effort, the “set nickname” feature, which enabled chat participants to set nicknames for one another, was depreciated on both the web and the Workplace Chat iOS app.Along with dark mode, Workplace From Facebook is adding improved accessibility functionalities including improved focus management, easier keyboard navigation and support for screen readers.Administrators can become familiar with the new features by clicking the profile picture in the bottom-left corner and selecting, :Use Improved Workplace Website,” which will switch over their accounts only.Starting Aug. 12, admins can activate the improved site for all users via the Early Access section of the What’s New page in their admin panels, where they can also pick the start date and end date of the early access period. The default start date is Aug. 26, but admins can choose any date between Aug. 12 and Sept. 23.Once the end date arrives, the switch will be permanent. The default is Sept. 23, but admins can choose any date from Aug. 26 through Sept. 23.The Workplace Chat iOS app was completely rebuilt from the ground up, on an entirely new code base, with an eye toward speed and ease of use.In addition to the dark mode option, starting the app and loading messages takes less time, and the new app accounts for only one-quarter of the space on iPhones as the current rendition of the app does. Workplace From Facebook System admins can go to the Early Access section under What’s New in their admin panels to opt in either themselves or the entire organization, and they can revert back to the current version until Aug. 26, at which point access to the current version will no longer be available. If admins do not opt for early access, their organizations will automatically be upgraded to the new app on either July 29 or Aug. 12, with prior notification, but the Aug. 26 expiration of the current version still stands.Workplace From Facebook said the transition takes an average of one full day, and all users will have to restart the app twice in order to begin using the new version. The Android version is undergoing “small changes” to make it consistent with the new iOS app.
